AEW Star Couldn’t Make Indie Show, Possibly Missing Ring Time

AEW Star Brian Cage was originally set to face former WWE Star Buddy Murphy in a one-on-one match for a Battleground Wrestling Event, which took place this past Saturday at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia and this was set as Murphy’s first-ever match since being released by the WWE. On a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that Cage couldn’t make the Battleground Wrestling Event as his knees were flaring up after receiving stem cell treatment a little while back and he was replaced by KC Navarro.

There is no word yet on how bad the condition of Brian Cage’s knees is or if he will miss any action, but Buddy Murphy did call out the AEW Star during the event for not showing up and it seems that they are building towards another match between the two at the promotion’s next show. AEW seems to also be building towards a possible rematch between FTW Champion Ricky Starks and Brian Cage, but Team Taz is currently feuding with CM Punk.

Brian Cage last competed for AEW on the September 1st episode of AEW Dynamite, when he lost a Singles Match to Powerhouse Hobbs.
