AEW Star Lance Archer Backs Out Of Indie Show To Recover

Lance Archer became the brand-new IWGP United States Champion when he defeated Jon Moxley in the main event of last Wednesday night’s Fyter Fest Night 2 episode of Dynamite, which was a Texas Deathmatch. The match ended when Archer chokeslammed Moxley through two tables that were covered with barbed wire boards, which resulted in Moxley not being able to answer the referee’s ten-count and losing the IWGP United States Title.

Immediately after the match, NJPW Star Hikuleo entered the ring and stood face-to-face against Archer and challenged him to a match for Archer’s newly-won IWGP U.S. Title. It would later be announced and confirmed that Lance Archer’s first IWGP U.S. Title defense will take place this Wednesday at the AEW Dynamite Fight For The Fallen special when he defends against Hikuleo.

Prior to defending his IWGP U.S. Title at this Wednesday’s Fight For The Fallen, Archer was scheduled to face CazXL (A.K.A. W. Morrissey) at this past Saturday’s SWE Fury Event in Lubbock, Texas, but the brand-new IWGP United States Champion took to his Twitter and announced that he will not be appearing in Lubbock, Texas for SWE’s Fury Event as he needs time to recover following his brutal match at this past Wednesday’s Fyter Fest Night 2 episode of Dynamite.
