It looks like a partnership between IMPACT Wrestling and AEW was formed and made official during this past Wednesday night’s “Winter Is Coming” episode of Dynamite.
As we witnessed during the main event, Don Callis, Omega’s close personal friend, interfered in the match and it resulted in Omega defeating Jon Moxley to become the brand-new AEW World Champion.
Callis then said in an interview with Alex Marvez to tune in this coming Tuesday on AXS TV, which is when IMPACT Wrestling airs as we will see the AEW World Champion Kenny Omega make an appearance on the show with Don Callis. Don Callis’ interference which resulted in Kenny Omega winning the title is a storyline believed to be the Montreal Screwjob all over again, most especially due to the tweet Don Callis sent out.
Callis wrote,
“@AEW screwed @AEW. Hear all about it this Tuesday on @IMPACTWRESTLING on @AXSTV. Thanks for the invite @TonyKhan.”
Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that “the Callis thing has been in the works for a while” and that “it is going to be some sort of promotional thing and the promotions are going to be working together to a degree.”
Meltzer also said that it is going to be of great and incredible benefit to IMPACT.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“The Callis thing has been in the works for a while… It is gonna be some sort of promotional thing and the promotions are going to be working together to a degree… Everything and anything is possible. How it’s gonna go I don’t know but it’s all possible because the sides are working together. But, yeah, it is of great benefit, incredible benefit to IMPACT.”

Meltzer also noted that it was Don Callis who pitched the idea of a partnership between AEW and IMPACT, which has been in the works for a while now. It was also Don Callis who planned his interference in the Moxley vs. Omega Main Event Match.
Lastly, Meltzer then mentioned that when AEW President and CEO Tony Khan said the phrase “the balance of power in wrestling is shifting” several weeks ago, this is what he was referring to, first Sting’s debut in AEW as well as the partnership between AEW and IMPACT Wrestling.
