Backstage News On Joey Janela’s Current AEW Contract

One of professional wrestling’s most controversial, unorthodox and unique personalities “The Bad Boy” Joey Janela signed with AEW in January 2019 as one of the company’s first signees, when the promotion was still starting out. He would then make his AEW debut at their inaugural PPV Event known as Double or Nothing on May 25, 2019, where he competed in the Casino Battle Royale during the Buy-In Pre-Show.

Fightful Select reports that Joey Janela had a conversation with them and he revealed his current AEW contract will expire in May of this year and that he enjoys working in AEW and would like to continue working for them. It was also mentioned on the report that there were talks of Janela’s contract with AEW being renewed at some point, but that has yet to happen.

Janela has been competing on AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation for the past several months and he has also been working for a number of independent promotions while he remains under contract to AEW, including GCW. Janela is set to face Matt Cardona at GCW’s The Wrld On GCW Event this Sunday from the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. Joey Janela mentioned that he hopes he bridges the gap between AEW and GCW and that they come into a working relationship, while also giving high praises to AEW.

There’s no word yet on when Joey Janela will re-sign with AEW, if he does re-sign with the promotion, but updates will be provided once it has been made available.
