Backstage News On Miro Appearing On Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite

This past Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite was supposed to feature Jon Moxley vs. Orange Cassidy in an AEW World Title Tournament Semi-Finals Match, but Moxley was pulled from the match as he had to undergo treatment for alcohol and he was replaced by Miro. Fightful Select reports that AEW President and CEO Tony Khan didn’t have the luxury of time to come up with Moxley’s replacement and the company was cutting it close with getting Miro to the Cable Dahmer Arena for Wednesday’s show.

Fightful Select also reported that the final decision was made on Tuesday afternoon, with AEW CEO and President Tony Khan announcing Moxley’s treatment for alcohol around midnight that night. Miro wasn’t originally scheduled to be on Dynamite this past Wednesday night, but after the announcement was made that he will be competing, AEW had to fly Miro to Independence, Missouri and he only arrived a number of minutes prior to Dynamite going on the air and had to wrestle Orange Cassidy shortly after.

Prior to last Wednesday night’s Dynamite, Miro last competed for AEW on the September 29th episode of the show, where he lost the TNT Title to Sammy Guevara. It was mentioned to Fightful that the company has frequently been changing the creative plans of Miro as of late, but it’s unclear what the company had planned for Miro recently. Miro defeated Orange Cassidy on Dynamite this past Wednesday night and is now set to face Bryan Danielson in the finals of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament.
