Backstage News On Several AEW Contracts Set To Expire Soon

A massive topic was discussed by Wade Keller on a recent edition of the PWTorch.com audio show that a number of AEW contracts are set to expire in 2022 and a few others like The Young Bucks have signed a contract extension.

Wade Keller first discussed how there are several people in AEW with their contracts expiring in 2022 and they are looking at their contracts and wondering what kind of deal they will have as they aren’t jumping at the bit to re-sign with AEW because they are looking how much leverage they are gonna have with WWE or NJPW or even GCW. Keller also spoke about how there is nothing negative about the way AEW CEO Tony Khan handles contract offers and no one in AEW plays hardball as well during contract talks.

This is what Wade Keller said:

“There are people I’ve talked to in AEW who are looking at their contracts and wondering what their deal is gonna be next time when their first deals come up.” “And how much leverage they’re gonna have with WWE or New Japan or heck, GCW with their ticket sales these days or the indie scene as an option to book yourself. It’s gonna be interesting to watch.”

Keller then talked about how Tony Khan hopes to re-sign Cody Rhodes and Kenny Omega, just like he did with The Young Bucks and that he doesn’t see any signs of them not wanting to re-sign with AEW as the top AEW Stars doesn’t seem to be disgruntled or upset with the company in any way. Keller also talked about how he thinks Cody and Omega might be signing contract extensions with AEW soon.

This is what Wade Keller said:

“I have heard the intent and the hope is that Cody and Kenny and Tony all come to deals.” “There’s not signs that any of them want to leave or are disgruntled to the point that they shouldn’t be able to come to an extension but I don’t know the situation. Maybe Cody and Kenny already signed extensions and they kept it quiet. Actually, I’m pretty sure that hasn’t happened now that I think about it from people I’ve talked to. I think Cody and Kenny might be next in terms of signing extensions.”

There’s no word yet on who else has signed contract extensions with AEW, but most of the original AEW roster have signed 3-year contracts in the first half of 2019, while AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker signed a contract extension this past September, Scorpio Sky recently signed a new AEW contract that will see him compete until 2024, MJF also recently signed with AEW that will see his contract up in 2024 and Joey Janela mentioned that his AEW contract expires in May of 2022. Updates will provided once it has been made available.
