The Briscoe brothers have certainly been busy. With appearances for Impact Wrestling and other promotions…and now they will be facing AEW‘s FTR at ROH’s Death Before Dishonor and it doesn’t stop there, as they are set to take on the Von Erichs at Ric Flair’s Last Match, scheduled to go down on July 31st.
The card itself is shaping up the be quite the event. Impact Wrestling’s World Heavyweight Champion Josh Alexander is set to go one-on-one with Jacob Fatu; Jordynne Grace, Deonna Purrazzo and Rachel Ellering will be having a match and yes, for the Knockouts Championship, currently held by Grace; The Wolves (Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards) will be reuniting and taking on the Motor City Machine Guns; and of course there is Ric’s match…opponent still to be announced. And of course now this….
First of all, to true blue pro wrestling fans, the name of Von Erich doesn’t need to be explained, but for the casual fan and viewer who happens to read this…the Von Erich name is to professional wrestling what the name of Edgar Allan Poe is to Victorian Horror.
They were certainly the masters of the Texas growth of the industry and that was all without ever stepping into the realm that is WWE. Eventually Kerry would make it to that platform. The family fell to tragedy, but that doesn’t change the advancements they made on the industry and the legacy they’ve left behind.
Marshall and Ross Von Erich and carrying that name on. They are the sons of Kevin Von Erich. They have had quite the indie career thus far, of course, and are signed to MLW right now.
This match is perhaps the largest scale platform they’ve been able to be on and it’s a definitive step in the right direction for two young men that deserve to reach unimaginable heights in the industry. And to go against The Briscoes is huge in and of itself. It should be quite the match for sure.
Marko Stunt feels his name being mentioned on Dynamite was essentially ‘lame’
Marko Stunt returned to the indies since he and AEW parted ways. He of course was in the Jurassic Express faction. It was during a recent segment on Dynamite that Christian Cage referenced him. In the end, Marko Stunt felt that the reference was essentially ‘lame.’ These statements were made during an interview with Steve Fall of NBC Sports Boston:
“I was not aware it was going to be said or anything or that my name was going to be thrown out in any context, because it hasn’t been since October. To do it in that context, I thought it was kind of lame…
It makes sense, though, in a way. I was part of that group before him and what he’s basically saying is, he came in and got me fired. In a story sense, love it. In real life sense (throws hands up), it is what it is, I guess…”
