It is no secret that former AEW World Champion CM Punk and former AEW World Trios Champions The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) haven’t seen eye-to-eye since Punk made his return to pro wrestling and arrived in AEW. CM Punk and The Elite were in the middle of a massive brawl following AEW All Out this past September 5th and it led to Ace Steel being let go and CM Punk and The Elite being stripped of their titles and being suspended.
CM Punk has since been absent from AEW television due to the brawl and an injury, while The Elite has returned to action and is currently towards the end of their Best Of 7 series with reigning AEW World Trios Champions Death Triangle (PAC, Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix) for Death Triangle’s titles.
One-half of the current IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions, one-half of FTR and a close friend of CM Punk, Dax Harwood, recently noted on his podcast that he would love to see CM Punk and The Elite work things out and find a way to make it work. This statement was posted on the Instagram account of “The ProWrestling” podcast and former AEW World Champion CM Punk commented, “Duh,” but it has been rumored and speculated that All Elite Wrestling will be buying out CM Punk’s contract and the only hang-up is the duration the former AEW World Champion will not be allowed to compete for other promotions due to the clause, though as of now, he is still under contract with the company.
Dave Meltzer reported on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Chris Jericho and other top AEW Stars told the rest of the locker room that they would make sure CM Punk wasn’t brought back to the company. This is after Jericho said CM Punk was a cancer to the AEW locker room following the massive post-AEW All Out backstage brawl.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“Several of the top guys, Chris Jericho being among them, told the rest of the locker room that they’d make sure Punk wasn’t brought back.”
