This past February 18th, top AEW Star Chris Jericho filed to trademark his old “Corazon de Leon” name with the USPTO (the United States Patent and Trademark Office). This is the ring name Jericho used in CMLL, which according to the top AEW Star’s trademark filing translates to Lion Heart, a nickname the Demo God used during his Japan and ECW days. Jericho’s trademark was filed by Michael E. Dockins, who has helped a number of wrestlers in the past.
In 1992, Chris Jericho made his debut in the independent scene prior to making his CMLL debut in June 1993. The following year, Jericho went to Japan and competed as The Lion Heart. Jericho then made his ECW debut in 1996 and ended up in WCW that same year. Chris Jericho then made his way to the WWE, and became a top star. He then worked in the WWE for more than two decades prior to signing with AEW.
Chris Jericho reportedly listed the trademark’s First Use and First Use In Commerce dates as 1993. He submitted the following use description to the USPTO (the United States Patent and Trademark Office):
“IC 041. US 100 101 107. G & S: Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services, namely, live appearances by a professional wrestling and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, personal appearances by a professional wrestler and sports entertainment personality; Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer; Providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; Providing online interviews featuring a professional wrestler and sports entertainer in the field of professional wrestling and sports entertainment for entertainment purposes. FIRST USE: 19930000. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 19930000”
There is no word yet on if Chris Jericho plans to use his “Corazon de Leon” name or “Lion Heart” name in AEW, but updates will be provided once it has been made available. Jericho is currently set to tag with MJF and challenge AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks at the Revolution PPV on March 7.
