All Elite Wrestling held their All Out PPV Event last September 4th from the NOW Arena in the Chicago suburb of Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Immediately following the All Out PPV Event, a media scrum would take place and a major brawl would ensue between CM Punk, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) and Ace Steel following CM Punk’s comments on The Elite and that would lead to AEW stripping Punk and the Elite of their championships and being suspended indefinitely alongside AEW producer Pat Buck, Christopher Daniels, Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler.
Former AEW World Champion CM Punk is one of the most outspoken and controversial personalities in all of pro wrestling, but he is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in all of pro wrestling as well. The former AEW and WWE World Champion is most notably known for his 434-day reign as WWE Champion and the pipebomb promo he cut during his WWE days, but it has been discussed that Punk isn’t expected to make a return to AEW following the events that transpired at the post-AEW All Out media scrum.
Wade Keller took to an episode of his PWTorch.com audio show, where he talked about CM Punk not being mentioned as one of the big names that have held the ROH World Title during the ROH World Title Match between Chris Jericho and Claudio Castagnoli on this past Wednesday night’s Grand Slam episode of AEW Dynamite. Wade Keller also said he doesn’t expect CM Punk to return to AEW and even though nothing is 100% sure at the moment, things seem to be leaning towards a buyout of CM Punk’s contract.
This is what Wade Keller said:
“I think this is noteworthy but not surprising [that] he excluded CM Punk’s name as he talked about some of the biggest names who have held the title.” “That’s a bit of a tell. As I talked with Jason Powell yesterday about – I am not expecting CM Punk to wrestle in AEW again. I’m not saying it’s 100 percent sure thing but everything is pointing in the direction of some sort of buyout of his contract. We’ll learn more eventually about that situation.”
Following the huge brawl at the post-AEW All Out media scrum, not a single person involved has spoken publicly about the incident and the promotion has remained quiet as well, but it’s expected that more details will be provided soon.
