Cody On Busted Open Radio Talks TNT Championship Tournament

Cody Rhodes appeared on Busted Open Radio last week to talk about the current state of AEW. He discussed several topics, including the new TNT Championship tournament taking place.

The tournament is taking place over the next few weeks on AEW Dynamite to crown an inaugural TNT Champion.

Where Did The TNT Championship Idea Come From

“The thing about TNT Championship tournament that excites me perhaps the most?” Cody began. “It is something that came really in a joint effort from AEW and TNT [Network]. This is something that…TNT has been really great. Warner Media has been really great about insight on the show and all the research on what they’re seeing. They’ve been a wonderful, wonderful partner.”

Where They Interested In Adding A New Belt

“This was something they were interested in doing. And they’re in line with what we were interested in doing. [In terms of] Having a new premium Championship on the show. And for us to be able to share in their likeness, and to slap the TNT logo on something over the next several years.”

Relationship Between AEW, TNT and Warner Media

“It’s really, really wonderful to have that synergy between Warner Media, TNT, and AEW. And I know, that the all our tournament guys got a brief little glimpse at the the belt itself. And that is a special looking championship belt. So this is, this is really…I’ve always wanted to do a title type tournament like this and to be in one. That’s you know…a wrestlers dream.”
