Early Estimated PPV Buys For AEW’s Double Or Nothing Event

All Elite Wrestling recently held their Double Or Nothing PPV Event, which featured CM Punk defeating “Hangman” Adam Page to become the new AEW World Champion, Adam Cole defeating Samoa Joe in the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament and Britt Baker defeating Ruby Soho in the finals of the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament.

AEW’s Double Or Nothing PPV Event is reportedly one of the most successful PPVs in company history as Dave Meltzer reported on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the early numbers indicate that the Double Or Nothing PPV drew a total of about 150,000-155,000 PPV buys on traditional PPV. Meltzer also reported that if the PPV numbers are correct, then the 2022 Double Or Nothing Event did more than the 2021 Double Or Nothing Event, which drew a total of about 140,000 PPV buys.

Meltzer then noted that the difference of fans for the 2022 AEW Double Or Nothing PPV Event and WWE’s WrestleMania 38 Premium Live Event was minimal as only 3.2% of those fans ordered both events on PPV. It should be mentioned though that this does not include those fans who watched on Peacock as that is the way majority of WWE fans watch the company’s Premium Live Events.

The 2022 AEW Double Or Nothing PPV is only behind the 2021 AEW All Out PPV, which was able to do more than 200,000 buys and which featured Kenny Omega defending the AEW World Title against Christian Cage in the main event and AEW World Champion CM Punk’s first pro wrestling match since retiring in 2014.
