AEW’s Full Gear Event was originally set to take place on Saturday, November 6 from Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri, but Dave Meltzer noted on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the promotion’s Full Gear PPV Event is now set to take place on Saturday, November 13 as the company would have faced strong competition from the UFC’s 268 Event, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
It was then announced that the 2021 Full Gear PPV Event will be taking place inside the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota and that AEW President and CEO Tony Khan confirmed the show’s main event of AEW World Champion Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page, when he appeared on the “My Mom’s Basement” podcast.
There seems to be some rumors and speculations that the entire Full Gear card was leaked accidentally as a photo of AEW President and CEO Tony Khan on the sidelines of the October 10 Jacksonville Jaguars game vs. the Tennessee Titans was posted online, where he’s holding a notebook with notes of the Full Gear PPV written on a piece of paper that seemingly has all of the matches for the PPV listed. It was shown in the picture that Khan has Page’s name circled on the notepad, possibly indicating that there will be a title change at the PPV.
AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker doesn’t have an opponent yet for the Full Gear PPV and neither does TNT Champion Sammy Guevara. AEW World Tag Team Champions Lucha Brothers could be defending their titles against FTR as that was the match listed, but that has yet to be confirmed. Another match seen in the photo is the Adam Cole vs. Christian Cage Match, which is one of the most talked about matches on social media since the leak of the piece of paper and Christian may enter into the matchup without the IMPACT World Championship as he is set to defend his title against Josh Alexander at IMPACT Bound For Glory on October 23rd. Another top AEW Star in Cody Rhodes doesn’t have an opponent for Full Gear as well, but there are three potential opponents listed for The American Nightmare.
It will be interesting to see if these matches really end up being the matches at Full Gear or if the leak causes AEW President and CEO Tony Khan to switch things up, but you can check out the picture of the list below:
