Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Daga, who worked for IMPACT in the past and who currently works for AAA, could possibly be headed to AEW as there has been talks within the company of bringing him in.
In 2011, Daga made his debut in wrestling and has made a name for himself in the pro wrestling business, most especially while working with AAA, where he is a former AAA World Cruiserweight Champion.
Daga has also worked for Lucha Underground in the past prior to signing with IMPACT in February 2019, and last wrestled for IMPACT Wrestling in March of 2020. Daga is married to fellow former IMPACT Star Tessa Blanchard, who according to Dave Meltzer, AEW didn’t have any interest in signing, and that the decision will come down to the “perceived value of her to the product vs. the negativity and backlash in some quarters such a signing would have.”
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Daga and Tessa Blanchard stayed in their home in Mexico and didn’t make an appearance on practically all of the shows in IMPACT in 2020. In October, it was reported that his request to be released from his IMPACT contract was granted by the company. Blanchard, who was a one-time IMPACT World Champion, left the promotion last summer, with her contract terminating days before it was set to expire.
According to reports, Tessa hasn’t made a decision yet on her future in the pro wrestling business and will do so once she is ready. There’s no word yet on when Daga could make his debut for All Elite Wrestling, but updates will be provided as it becomes available.
