On March 8th of this year, Andrade requested his release from the WWE and he was granted that release on March 21st, but unlike other WWE Superstars who were released from their contracts, Andrade is not under a 90-day non-compete clause with the WWE and can sign with any pro wrestling company he chooses to as soon as he was gone from the WWE.
Dave Meltzer said on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Andrade has had talks with AEW, but there was no mention of how far those talks have gone, though the reports also indicate that Andrade has had at least some sort of a negotiation with All Elite Wrestling.
As previously reported, Andrade issued a challenge to Kenny Omega, who is the AEW World /IMPACT World Champion as well as the AAA Mega Champion, for Omega’s AAA Mega Title at AAA’s TripleMania XXIX Event in August and Omega responded to the challenge, but he said he needed some time to think about it. It was also mentioned at the time that Andrade has signed with the AAA wrestling promotion in Mexico and that AAA and AEW have some sort of a partnership.
There were rumors and speculations several months back that Andrade and Zelina Vega could both end up and reunite in AEW since Tony Khan has expressed some interest in signing Zelina, but, Zelina Vega is believed to be headed back to WWE.
Andrade currently has a number of appearances scheduled and he is keeping himself busy as he is first set to team with ROH World Champion Rush, Bestia del Ring and a mystery partner to battle the team of PJ Black, Matt Taven and two mystery partners on Saturday, June 19th for the Federación Pro Wrestling promotion in Mexico. Andrade will then go up against former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio on Saturday, July 31st at a show in McAllen, Texas.
