How “Hangman” Adam Page’s AEW Alcoholic Storyline Began

During a recent interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, the Young Bucks talk about the importance of their 200th episode of Being The Elite, how it has helped their careers and has been a creative outlet for many wrestlers. One of those being “Hangman” Adam Page.

Page received a big push during the AEW’s early months when he faced Chris Jericho at All Out to crown the inaugural AEW World Champion. That initial push made him one of the biggest stars in All Elite Wrestling.

Over the last several month’s Page’s character has taken a dark turn into alcoholism. The Bucks revealed how that character change all started, and the concept of Hangman being an alcoholic was first conceived during a discussion about BTE.

“One day Hangman walked up to me, Matt and Brandon Cutler, who helps film Being The Elite, and he said ‘I think I want to become an alcoholic.’ And I said ‘What?’ We heard his idea, which was incredible, and we said ‘Let’s do it.’ Look at him now compared to where he was a year ago. He’s a superstar.”

During the January 22th episode of AEW Dynamite on TNT, Page and Kenny Omega defeated SoCal Uncensored (Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky) to win the AEW Tag Team Championship. They have been the titleholders ever since.
