The main event of AEW Dynamite’s TBS premiere episode saw AEW World Tag Team Champions Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus challenge Penta Oscuro and Rey Fenix of The Lucha Brothers, who were the former AEW World Tag Team Champions and walk out of the match as the brand-new World Tag Team Champions.
There was a spot in the match where Fenix was put through a table on the outside by Luchasaurus, with Fenix landing really bad and it even seemed like Fenix twisted his arm and it came out of it’s socket upon impact. Rey Fenix then grabbed his left arm and it looked like he was calling for assistance. An update would then be provided by one-half of the Lucha Brothers, revealing that he did not suffer any broken bones and that he was even expected to make his in-ring return in mid-February.
Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Rey Fenix said in an interview that he will be returning to in-ring action at AAA’s TripleMania XXX Event on April 30th where he will team with AAA Mega Champion Hijo del Vikingo to take on AEW Stars The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) in a Tag Team Match. Meltzer also noted that we should expect Fenix to make his return to AEW as well in a couple of weeks and reunite with his brother Penta Oscuro.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“They have a deal with AAA as far as the belts. The belts going back to Triple A. Which…by the way, Fenix did an interview today and said he would be back for TripleMania which is April 30th. We should be seeing Pentagon and Fenix back as a tag team in AEW within a couple of weeks now.”
Fenix was previously advertised to team with Penta to take on Dragon Lee and Dralistico at the Rey de Reyes Event, but it was mentioned by the Wrestling Observer at the time that the match will likely be changed to a Singles Match between Penta and Dralistico. Fenix was also set to team with Penta at the House Of Glory Salvation Event back on March 11th, where they were set to put the HOG Tag Team Titles on the line against the 12-time ROH World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes (Jay and Mark Briscoe), but Fenix was not cleared in time to compete on those shows.
