Riho, who is the first-ever AEW Women’s World Champion and who was on the sidelines for three months, is reportedly returning to in-ring action as reported by the Midwest Marks Podcast. It was noted that Riho revealed on her members-only blog that she is healed up and will soon be returning to the United States to resume competing for All Elite Wrestling.
Dave Meltzer noted on the Wrestling Observer Radio that Riho suffered the injury during the company’s Battle Of The Belts special event back in January when she challenged Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s World Title and that she suffered a broken collarbone early in the match, but despite the injury, she never complained and even finished the match. Meltzer then reported that at the time she was injured, Riho was expected to be out of in-ring action for at least three months and that she even traveled to Japan while recovering, so the timeline of her return is right on track.
During the premiere episode of AEW Dynamite in October of 2019, Riho became the inaugural AEW Women’s World Champion when she defeated Nyla Rose. Riho held the AEW Women’s World Title for 133 days before losing it to Nyla Rose in February of 2020.
Riho last competed for AEW at the Battle of the Belts special on January 8th, where she came up short against AEW Women’s World Champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. in an AEW Women’s World Title Match. Prior to the AEW Women’s World Title Match, Riho was competing on AEW programming on a regular basis as she wrestled in over 10 matches from November to January, with her last AEW television match taking place on the January 7th episode of Rampage, when she teamed with Ruby Soho to defeat the AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker and her partner Jamie Hayter.
