As previously reported, the Title vs. Title Main Event Matchup at Sunday night’s IMPACT Rebellion PPV saw Kenny Omega win the match to become both the AEW and IMPACT World Champion. Omega is not only the AEW and IMPACT World Champion, but he is also the current AAA Mega Champion.
IMPACT Wrestling Executive Vice President Scott D’Amore then took to his Twitter and said that due to Omega winning the IMPACT World Title, he trusts and expects that Omega will honor the commitments and the responsibilities that come with the prestigious title. The IMPACT Executive then teased that more will be said on this Thursday’s IMPACT Wrestling episode.
It would then be announced that the new IMPACT World Champion and AEW World Champion Kenny Omega will compete at IMPACT’s upcoming Under Siege Event. There’s no word yet on who Omega will compete against at Under Siege, but there are a number of possibilities such as Rich Swann, Moose and Eddie Edwards.
Dave Meltzer revealed on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Under Siege is going to be the first title defense of Omega and that he will be at IMPACT’s next television tapings. Meltzer also noted that he is not sure who Omega will be defending against, but he has a feeling that on Thursday’s IMPACT we will probably have an idea who it would be, but it might be Swann and Omega’s big defense is going to be on the July Slammiversary PPV.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“Yeah, that will be I believe his first title defense. I believe…he’s going to be at the next television taping and he’s definitely going to defend the title at Under Siege, that’s the first title defense, May 15th. I believe he’s doing a tag team match on television when they do the tapings as well. I’m not sure who he’ll be defending against. I have a feeling that on Thursday’s show you will probably have an idea who it would be. It might be Rich, you know, the big defense is going to be on the July show [Slammiversary].”
IMPACT Wrestling Under Siege is set to take place on Saturday, May 15th via the IMPACT Plus streaming platform.
