WWE recently released a total of ten Superstars from their contracts, including Mexican Star Andrade, but he has been silent for a number of weeks until he was announced for the first-ever Federacion Pro Wrestling Event. Towards the end of AAA’s recent Rey de Reyes Event, Andrade would make an appearance via a pre-taped video message and announce that he is now with AAA and that he has two goals, wrestle AAA Star Psycho Clown and win the AAA Mega Championship.
Andrade then went ahead and challenged Kenny Omega, who is the AAA Mega Champion and also the AEW and IMPACT World Champion to a match for Omega’s AAA Mega Title at Triplemania XXIX. Kenny Omega, the AEW and IMPACT World Champion, would then take to his Twitter account and respond to the challenge issued by Andrade. Omega said he is a busy guy and to give him some time to think about it.
During AAA’s recent press conference, the match between Kenny Omega and Andrade was made official for AAA’s biggest event of the year, TripleMania XXIX, which is set to take place on Saturday, August 14, with Omega’s AAA Mega Championship on the line. TripleMania XXIX will reportedly happen in front of a limited capacity of fans in Mexico City’s Arena Ciudad de Mexico Arena, which will be the first event AAA will have fans in over a year.
Omega would cut a promo on the press conference as well, saying the AAA Mega Title is always going to be around his waist and not only does he represent lucha libre, he represents all pro wrestling which is not going to change any time soon.
This is what Kenny Omega said:
“This belt, the one that represents lucha libre, that you so proudly represent, it’s always going to be around my waist.” “And you should be thankful. Because not only do I represent lucha libre, I represent all pro wrestling. That’s not going to change any time soon. Send your best at me, send Andrade. The dream match is going to happen. Andrade vs. Kenny Omega, TripleMania. I’ll see you there.”
This will be the first time for Omega and Andrade to face each other in a match, but it will be Kenny Omega’s fifth AAA Mega Title defense, defending it against Jack Evans, Dragon Lee, Sammy Guevara, and Laredo Kid in the past. For Andrade, this will be his first-ever match for AAA, but he is also set to wrestle at Federacion Wrestling’s inaugural event on June 19, as well as a singles match with Alberto El Patron on July 31.
