Malakai Black reportedly requested his release from All Elite Wrestling several weeks ago as noted by Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc., but his request was denied at the time. Immediately following his matchup at last Sunday night’s AEW All Out Event, where the House of Black lost a Trios Match to Sting, Darby Allin and Miro, Malakai Black waved to the AEW fans in attendance, bowed and hugged the other members of the House of Black and it was believed that after last Sunday’s AEW All Out Event he was done with the company.
Fightful Select reports that several AEW talents believe Black has been granted his release, but he’s under a “conditional release,” which could mean that he is under a non-compete clause so a WWE return will not be happening anytime soon. The report also notes that they have reached out to AEW regarding Black’s release, but they have yet to make an official announcement. Black signed with AEW a year ago after being released by the WWE due to budget cuts.
