Mixed Tag Team Match With Shaq And Cody Officially Announced

It was previously reported that NBA legend Shaq challenged Cody Rhodes to a match to be held sometime in March, most likely at Revolution, but a match was not made official at the time.

Cody Rhodes would then respond to the challenge, but he wasn’t sure what he was going to do at the Revolution PPV until Arn Anderson offered him a new tag team partner in Red Velvet.

The Tag Team Match was then teased, but it wasn’t made official at the time as there was still a huge possibility that the match could end up being a Singles Match. Last night on the Beach Break Dynamite special, the Mixed Tag Team Match between Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet (with Arn Anderson) vs. Shaq and Jade Cargill was made official for the March 3rd episode of Dynamite.

The match was originally expected to take place at Revolution on Sunday, March 7, but that’s the same day that the NBA All-Star Game will take place and it is likely AEW had to change the date since Shaq will most likely be appearing on the NBA All-Star Game and will not be able to compete for AEW. Since the match was announced, NBA legend Shaq referred to Cody as a cupcake and even confirmed that he was going to wrestle in AEW.

Cody has also commented on the match announcement and said that he has nothing but respect for such a legendary athlete in Shaq, and he has no doubt Jade will be a dominant dominant figure in the women’s division of AEW, but they can’t touch him in the ring and Red Velvet is true grit.
