In what was a very special and surprise appearance by none other than AEW’s Jon Moxley, and all on the eve of his bout at AEW’s All Out against Kojima, Jon Moxley takes Matt Cardona’s gold. Also in the news: on the horizon are some more action figures in the AEW Unrivaled Collection Series by Unrivaled Collectibles.
Jon Moxley Takes GCW Championship
Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) held their event,The Art of War Games, on Saturday and what an event it was.
The promotion made a wee bit of noise a few weeks back when Matt Cardona won the GCW Championship in a brutal battle that had to have gone viral online against none other than Nick Gage. We also reported on the monumental moment and the crowd reaction garnered quite a bit of attention—some of it good and some of it negative, for obvious reasons.
Regardless, last night, Cardona made a monumental announcement, carrying out a spinner belt very reminiscent of the spinner belt introduced during the Ruthless Aggression era in WWE by John Cena. He would face Frank The Clown and dispatch of him rather quickly.
He also made reference to WWE by stating that he would be the Game Changer Wrestling Champion, “Now and forever,” using the well-known WWE slogan.
Well, his celebration would be cut short as G-Raver came out accompanied by cloaked figures. Cardona would dispatch of these rather quickly. But there was a single cloaked figure that stayed off to the side and corner of the ring…this figure would emerge after the melee and hit Cardona with a Paradigm Shift DDT, thus revealing that the figure was none other than Jon Moxley.
He pinned him and the rest is history.
Gage would approach Mox and state that they would now be opponents at GCW’s Atlantic City show on October 9, which apparently is where the storyline has always been headed, according to webisjericho.com.
Now talk about a wrestler with a full-time schedule. This young man is everywhere, and we have AEW to thank, as we get to see him wrestle almost everywhere (as well as so many other AEW wrestlers) and all because they let their talent work independent shows—not to mention their alliance with NWA, AAA, Impact—and what a way to bring the attention back home to AEW in the end…a genius move by Tony Khan this continues to be for the world of professional wrestling.
And it also shows a type of cooperation in the business that died when WCW and WWE branched away from the NWA.
More toys to come in the AEW Unrivaled Collection Series by Unrivaled Collectibles
If you go to the ringside collectibles website, there are 7 AEW series of toys that can be purchased. These include: MJF, Rey Fenix, Jack Hager, Chris Jericho…and so many others.
Well, according to Wrestling Inc, Ringside Collectibles has announce a series 8 and 9 and updated figures for series 3 and 4 apparently.
Series 8 will include: Trent, Kris Statlander and even Chuck Taylor.
While series 9 will include: Eddie Kingston, Thunder Rosa, Ricky Starks, Brian Cage, Powerhouse Hobbs and of course Christian Cage.
With so many others announced—even a bloodied up version of the good doctor herself, Dr. Britt Baker, many are definitely excited—perhaps even Matt Cardona himself, who is a well-know collector. Maybe this news can cheer him up after his dropping of the title to Moxley.
