NBA Legend Shaq Reveals Why He Chose His AEW Ring Gear

The opening matchup of last Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite: The Crossroads special saw NBA legend Shaq make his highly-anticipated AEW in-ring debut when he teamed with Jade Cargill to face Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet in a blockbuster Tag Team Match, which saw Shaq and Jade Cargill defeat Cody and Red Velvet.

During his AEW in-ring debut, Shaq wore a black tank top and black sweatpants as his ring gear. While speaking with Access Daily, NBA legend Shaq revealed that the reason he chose his ring gear is due to his respect for Cody, his respect for Cody’s family, his respect for all the wrestlers, including The Rock and what they have done for the business. Shaq also said that Cody challenged him to a fight, so he is showing up in fight clothes, he doesn’t want to come in with a gimmicky costume.

This is what Shaq said:

“Look, Cody challenged me to a fight, I’m showing up in fight clothes.” “Sweatpants and a tank top. I respect him, I respect his family, I respect all the wrestlers, The Rock, what they’ve done. I don’t want to come in with a gimmicky costume.”

“This man challenged me to a fight, I’m showing up like it’s going to be a fight. I’m just going sweatpants and a tank top.”

Shaq’s opponent, Cody Rhodes, also took part in the interview and said that he feels a lot better, as he has got quite a costume compared to Shaq’s simple ring gear.

This is what Cody Rhodes said:

“I feel a lot better, because I got jewels upon jewels.” “I got quite a costume. Now I feel real good.”
