There were rumors in the past that despite All Elite Wrestling having a really successful first three years in the pro wrestling business since its inception back in 2019 the people behind their success, which are known as the EVPs Cody Rhodes, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks were going to be involved in some sort of an issue or disagreement called infighting.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported at the time that he doesn’t think there is anybody in AEW who doesn’t talk to each other and it is impossible to get everyone to agree on everything in the pro wrestling business, but he sees that the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega are real-life close personal friends and Cody Rhodes has more of a business relationship rather than a close personal relationship with the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, but that had nothing to do with Cody’s decision to leave AEW.
Meltzer then mentioned that AEW CEO Tony Khan runs the show and at the end of the day, it will be the Tony Khan philosophy. On a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program, Meltzer noted that Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega had a major role in helping to create the company, while also working as in-ring competitors, but the relationship Cody had with Matt and Nick is different to the relationship Omega had with the Young Bucks.
It was also noted by Meltzer that the relationship between Cody, Omega and the Bucks was never as bad as people had reported as the three of them were always doing business together and the three of them were even getting along much better, so that was definitely not the reason Cody Rhodes left All Elite Wrestling. There was also no mention in regards to a fallout between Cody Rhodes and Tony Khan behind the scenes. Cody even thanked several people backstage, when he announced his departure and The Young Bucks were one of them.
There has been rumors that Cody Rhodes is now free to work in any company he chooses to, with reports even mentioning that he will be returning to the WWE soon and that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has big plans for Cody if he does return to the company.
