The main event of last week’s Dynamite episode saw The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana and Ortiz) go up against The Pinnacle (MJF, Shawn Spears, Wardlow, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) in a Blood And Guts Match. The match ended with MJF threatening to throw Jericho off the top of the structure, with Guevara begging and pleading and eventually surrendering to MJF’s demands. After the match, MJF still went ahead and tossed Jericho off the top of the double cage structure and through a crash pad.
According to a report by Dave Scherer of PWInsider, WWE officials “hated” the inaugural match and one person even stated that the match “set the business back 30 years,” but there were a number of active WWE Superstars who told Scherer that they loved the match since “they would love to do something like that themselves.”
Dave Meltzer even mentioned on a recent F4WOnline board that the statements made were consistent with what WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon has said and that at least one high ranking official said the opposite.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“It is totally consistent with Vince. There absolutely were high ranking people who said that and at least one who thought the opposite.”
PWInsider.com also mentioned that the Blood And Guts Match more than lived up to its name, which said that the match was going to be brutal and barbaric, but the good thing that came out of the match was that there were no major injuries that happened, though members of both factions did receive a number of bruises and bumps. It was also mentioned that a number of people in the match were busted open the hard way and that there was far more blood in the match than originally intended.
