NJPW Star and Suzuki-gun member Zack Sabre Jr. was recently interviewed by NJPW on a number of topics. Those include the possibility of taking on AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, who currently also holds the IWGP United States Title, in a match sometime in the near future.
According to Zack Sabre Jr., Moxley was already coming after Suzuki-gun and he didn’t want to wait for Moxley to come after him as well, which is why he wanted to jump in and defeat him at Wrestle Dynasty.
“I don’t think anything would be better than being US Champion at Wrestle Dynasty, and how upset American wrestling fans would be. I think as well, Moxley was coming after my group, I didn’t want to wait for him to come to me, I wanted to jump in.”
Sabre Jr. then talked about fans being excited about the match and Jon Moxley’s hardcore style not being enough to help him against Sabre’s technical prowess.
“I can appreciate that fans would be excited about that; I’m excited about that. You don’t know which way it’s going to go. He’s been having these hardcore rules with everyone and that isn’t going to work with me; you can keep the furniture under the ring, sunshine. I wouldn’t be chasing after him if I didn’t think I could win. I can win. It won’t be easy, but I can win.”
There is no word yet on if the match will actually take place and if Wrestle Dynasty will continue as planned due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. NJPW has already canceled or postponed all events in the month of May, but updates will be provided once it is made available.
There is also concern that Moxley is not allowed to work NJPW events in the United States due to his contract with AEW.
