Reason Why AEW Star Riho Has Been Absent From TV As Of Late

Riho, who is the former and first-ever AEW Women’s World Champion, has not appeared on AEW television as of late, which Dave Meltzer talked about on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. According to Dave Meltzer, Riho has not been seen on AEW TV as of late because she had a bad reaction to a COVID-19 vaccine and that has kept her out of in-ring action.

There is no word yet on when Riho will return to in-ring action, but Meltzer did mention that Riho is feeling better as of late and she should be back in action soon. Meltzer also mentioned that Riho has been in the process of moving to the United States on a full-time basis.

This is not the first time that Riho had been absent from AEW TV in the past year or so as she wasn’t on AEW TV as well this past year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As soon as the travel restrictions for the COVID-19 pandemic were eased up a bit, there was still the issue of the AEW Star having to travel back and forth from the U.S. to Japan and the issue of Riho having to be in quarantined for two weeks but she did return to the U.S. to compete in the AEW Women’s Title Eliminator Tournament.

During the premiere episode of AEW Dynamite in October of 2019, Riho became the inaugural AEW Women’s World Champion when she defeated Nyla Rose. Riho held the AEW Women’s World Title for 133 days before losing it to Nyla Rose in February of 2020. She last competed for AEW on the July 12th episode of AEW Dark: Elevation when she defeated Amber Nova in Singles action, in a match that was taped on July 7th in Miami.
