Rey Fenix Reportedly Out Of Double Or Nothing Due To Injury

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the reason Rey Fénix has been absent from AEW TV as of late is due to him currently suffering an injury, which is also the reason why he won’t be working the AEW Double Or Nothing PPV Event.

The belief is that Rey Fénix suffered the injury in a recent match he had in Mexico, but that has not been confirmed yet and there is no word yet on what exact match Rey Fénix suffered the injuries in.

Réy Fenix and his brother, Penta El Zero Miedo, are the current AAA World Tag Team Champions, but the team has not defended the titles yet in a number of months and no word has been given yet on what the future holds for the titles or if it will be vacated by Rey Fénix and Penta El Zero Miedo.

Fénix’s partners in the Death Triangle faction, Penta and PAC, are both working the Double Or Nothing PPV Event, with PAC competing against Orange Cassidy and AEW World Champion Kenny Omega in the Triple Threat Main Event Matchup and Penta El Zero Miedo competing in the Casino Battle Royale. If Rey Fénix wasn’t injured, then it is believed that he would be competing in the Casino Battle Royale as well.

Fénix last wrestled for AEW on the April 29th episode of Dark: Elevation when he beat Chuck Taylor in Singles action. There is no word yet on how long Rey Fénix will be out of action, but updates will be provided as it becomes available.
