The Rock Tells Cody “You Mic Dropped that MF” with Dynamite Promo

Cody Rhodes is drawing rave reviews from the wrestling community over his promo on AEW Dynamite this week, including one from WWE icon Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

The Rock responded to AEW’s tweet of a video clip of the promo with the following tweet:

Rhythm, cadence, tone, intent, passion, execution. Great promo, brother. You 🎤 dropped that MF. @CodyRhodes

Tasked with hyping up his Full Gear match with AEW Champion Chris Jericho, Rhodes delivered what many consider an all-time promo in front of the fans at Bojangles Coliseum in Charlotte. The American Nightmare took fans on an emotional rollercoaster before getting the fans to roar by calling Jericho a “stupid d***.”

Famed wrestling promoter Jim Cornette likened Cody’s promo to one his all-time great father, Dusty Rhodes, delivered in 1985.

Tag team legend and commentator Bully Ray also celebrated Rhodes’ promo and commentated on AEW hitting it out of the park with unscripted mic work.

Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page also heaped praise on Rhodes. Page is no stranger to AEW after making a surprise appearance to help The Elite in their battle with Jericho’s Inner Circle recently on Dynamite.
