The Varsity Blonds Have Signed A Full-Time Deal With AEW

According to Fightful Select, the Varsity Blonds’ Griff Garrison has signed a full-time deal with AEW and that is something which was expected as the company wanted to do what they can to match any full-time deal as far as dates go. Garrison signing a full-time deal with AEW reportedly comes after Brian Pillman Jr. signing a full-time deal with the company as well, which was at last weekend’s MLW Battle Riot III as that is when Pillman Jr.’s MLW contract technically expired and word is that he’ll finish up with MLW soon.

Both members of the Varsity Blonds were previously working under tiered contracts, but it was noted a long while back that it was considered a foregone conclusion they will both end up with full-time AEW contracts. Brian Pillman Jr. made his AEW debut at the promotion’s 2019 Double Or Nothing Event, when he competed in the Battle Royal. Pillman Jr. then started working more dates for AEW, and was allowed to compete for them, while still under contract to MLW. Pillman Jr. last competed for MLW against Lio Rush, who was the MLW Middleweight Champion at the time, on the March 17th episode of Fusion.

Garrison made his AEW debut on the June 16th, 2020 episode of Dark, when he lost to Lance Archer in a Singles Match. He then started working more dates for AEW until he and Brian Pillman Jr. first teamed together on the August 4th, 2020 episode of Dark as the Varsity Blonds, losing to FTR. Garrison would then find success in the long run with Pillman Jr. as the Varsity Blonds. Their latest win took place on the July 6th episode of Dark, when they defeated Chad Lennex and Zachariah in Tag Team action.
