There Is Heavy Speculation On The Masked Man On AEW Dynamite

The closing segment of last Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite saw a contract signing take place between Swerve Strickland and “Hangman” Adam Page and immediately following the contract signing, the cameras cut to the backstage area and saw a group of people attack “Switchblade” Jay White. Before the show went off the air, a mystery person was shown wearing all black and the “Devil” mask that current ROH World Tag Team Champion and reigning AEW World Champion MJF wore when he returned to All Elite Wrestling at All Out in September of last year.

Earlier in the show, Jay White and MJF had a face-to-face confrontation seemingly setting up a future AEW World Title Match, but many have pointed out on social media that the body type of the masked man does not match MJF, though there is tons of speculation that the identity of the person is none other than WWE Hall of Famer Edge. Since Edge’s WWE contract is set to expire by tomorrow, the timing would be perfect as it is expected that the WWE Hall of Famer is AEW-bound and will show up at WrestleDream this Sunday.

No confirmation has been given that the masked man is Edge, but the expectation is to build to a huge rating or PPV buyrate for whenever this person is revealed. Another speculation being talked about on the internet is that the masked man is Adam Cole and his ankle injury is fake, but Britt Baker posted photos on social media of Cole’s ankle. Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Adam Cole has a real injury and that he won’t be cleared to wrestle for a while because he needs surgery.

According to sources, Cole’s injury is real and he was seen on crutches and the masked man is not the WWE Hall of Famer either because of the body type, but oftentimes in pro wrestling, the big reveal is a different person and the person in the mask last Wednesday night could have been a placeholder. All Elite Wrestling has been interested in signing Edge to a contract since 2019, so there is still a big chance that he does show up this Sunday.
