Tony Khan On Report That AEW EVPs Lost Creative Power

This past week, a report was released, where it was noted that the AEW EVPs (AEW World Champion Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and Cody Rhodes) have lost all of their power in terms of the creative side of the business and that AEW President and CEO Tony Khan has taken more responsibilities and Khan is now in charge of everything. It was also mentioned on the report that the title of EVPs is just a name in 2021.

Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that since December of 2019 the roles of the EVPs in AEW has not changed even with Tony Khan taking on more responsibilities as well as control and that they did not lose any power in terms of creative control.

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan recently had a conversation with Mike Johnson of PWInsider and talked about the creative situation in AEW. According to Khan, he saw those reports, but nothing has changed as it was all because of him, but he felt like he needed to take over more and be more accountable as the CEO and as the Booker. Tony Khan also said he has the final say, but he felt like the show wasn’t as organized as it should be, which is why he stepped in. Tony Khan then said that since he took more control things have been more organized and the shows have gotten significantly better.

Khan also added that this started at the beginning of 2020 as part of his New Year’s resolution as he didn’t feel good about the product and he wanted to see everything before it aired as he wanted to do the show justice and to showcase a better product for the fans. Khan then concluded by saying CM Punk signing with AEW as well as Bryan Danielson, Ruby Soho and Adam Cole has really made a big difference in the product and the star power and the shows have gotten bigger, better and stronger.
