Tony Khan On Tyson’s Return To Dynamite Against NXT TakeOver

As previously reported, a massive announcement was recently made by AEW that boxing legend Mike Tyson will be making his return on tonight’s live episode of Dynamite. This will reportedly be Mike Tyson’s first appearance in front of an AEW crowd as his previous appearances for the promotion were on shows without fans due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan talked about Tyson’s appearance for the company on tonight’s Dynamite and the reason Khan wanted to bring him back. Khan said there are a number of reasons he wanted Mike Tyson to come back, one of the reasons is that he made a huge impact last year at Double Or Nothing and they are at a point where they can bring the boxing legend back in front of their fans.

This is what Tony Khan said:

“There are many reasons I wanted Mike to come back.” “He made a huge impact last year at Double or Nothing, and we’re at a point where we can bring him back in front of our fans. The fans who have come to the shows in Jacksonville have added so much to AEW, and it’s important for me that our fans get to see him live. We’re excited to have Mike back.”

Tony Khan then talked about Mike Tyson’s return being a huge deal as he’s going to have a real impact on Dynamite, especially considering that they are going head-to-head with NXT’s TakeOver Night One.

This is what Tony Khan said:

“This is going to be a big deal.” “With Mike coming to town, he’s going to have a real impact on Dynamite.”

AEW President Tony Khan then talked about AEW Star Chris Jericho appearing on WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions podcast and how he agreed to it as Khan has so much respect for both Chris Jericho and Steve Austin. Khan also said that it’s a win for the fans to see them both together.

This is what Tony Khan said:

“I agreed to that because I have so much respect for both Chris and Steve.” “It’s a win for the fans to see them both together.”
