Tony Khan Sheds Some Light On Ronda Rousey’s AEW/ROH Status

Former WWE Superstar Ronda Rousey, who competed in her last match with the promotion at last August’s 2023 SummerSlam Premium Live Event, where Shayna Baszler defeated her in an MMA Rules Match, made her debut with AEW/ROH at this past Friday’s television tapings after Rampage went off the air. Ronda and her long-time friend Marina Shafir teamed up to face Billie Starkz and the reigning ROH Women’s World Champion Athena in a match that is expected to air this coming Thursday on HonorClub.

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan took part in a post-Full Gear media scrum this past Saturday and shed some light on the situation surrounding Rousey’s status with AEW/ROH following her debut. Khan stated that Rousey is not signed with AEW or ROH, but they did have a great conversation and they would love to have her back anytime.

It was also discussed by Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Rousey’s appearance is a one-time deal and she did it as a favor to Shafir, but if Rousey wants to make an appearance yet again for AEW/ROH, then they would gladly use her anytime. The report also mentions that there is a reason Rousey wanted to finish up her career and that is family, but she did work all these shows in Los Angeles to team with Shafir for fun and not to commit and she did not leave WWE to go to AEW as the idea was when she left WWE was that she was done with wrestling and she is moving on to the next stage of her life, but stranger things have happened.
