Former UFC Champ Cain Velasquez Crosses Over to Pro Wrestling

Cain Velasquez teamed with Cody Rhodes and Psycho Clown to win his pro wrestling debut at AAA TripleMania XXVII.

Former UFC Champion Cain Velasquez made his pro wrestling debut with All Elite Wrestling Superstar Cody Rhodes and Psycho Clown at AAA TripleMania XXVII over the weekend.

Velasquez, Rhodes and Psycho Clown defeated Killer Cross, Taurus and Texano Jr at the event in Mexico City.

Velasquez hit a variety of aerial moves, including a hurricanrana on Taurus. The man who unseated Brock Lesnar as champ in UFC then hit a number of suplexes on Killer Cross. Though the heels teamed up on Velasquez at one point, he got the last laugh with a submission by kimura for the victory.

After the match, AEW’s Rhodes commented on Velasquez in a video tweeted out by the AEW official account.

Velasquez getting involved on the indie circuit is noteworthy. His name came up in rumors with WWE for much of the past year. Rumors had Velasquez possibly emerging as a challenger to Lesnar when SmackDown Live moves to the Fox network this fall.

However, the indie debut will undoubtedly lead to speculation that Velasquez could appear with AEW and perhaps became a member of the All Elite stable.
