As previously reported, Lance Archer faced Eddie Kingston in an AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament Match on the October 23rd episode of AEW Dynamite and during the match, Archer attempted to hit Eddie Kingston with a moonsault off the top rope, but he ended up landing hard on his head. Archer was then checked out at ringside by the referee and ringside physician Dr. Michael Sampson. Lance Archer would then make his way back in the ring, but was immediately rolled up by Kingston for the win.
Lance Archer took to his Twitter and said that he has done the same move hundreds of times in his pro wrestling career, but he just under rotated and things could have been much worse. Lance then thanked everyone in AEW for taking care of him and protecting him and said he will be back soon. It was noted at the time that Archer is on the shelf due to a concussion and that he is in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the site of the Full Gear Event, to undergo rehab, but he is not expected to compete at the Full Gear PPV because will be rehabbing his injury as he works towards his in-ring return.
AEW President and CEO Tony Khan took part in a media scrum immediately after the Full Gear Event last Saturday and revealed that Lance Archer is good and he suffered a neck injury, not a head injury, and that he has cleared all the necessary testing, where it was determined he twisted his neck, but he is good.
This is what Tony Khan said:
“He’s here, he’s good, and thankfully, he came out of it good. It was a neck injury, not a head injury. He cleared all the impact testing, concussion, all the stuff over the last several weeks. They determined he twisted his neck, but he’s good.”
Tony Khan then talked about when we could see Lance Archer make his in-ring return.
This is what Tony Khan said:
“I’m not exactly sure. I don’t want to rush. We have so many great stars. Lance is a really important wrestler for us and has hit on so many great things for us.”
