What Jay White Told AEW On His Contract Status With NJPW

During night two of NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 15 Event, Jay White seemingly quit the promotion following his devastating loss against the double champion Kota Ibushi in the main event of the evening for the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Titles. Reports would then indicate that the WWE were making “a strong play” at Jay White and that White had many people backing him and supporting him within WWE.

Dave Meltzer talked about Jay White’s NJPW status on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program and noted that he has not spoken with anyone in NJPW nor has he spoken with Jay White yet. He did mention though that prior to AEW starting sometime in 2018, they had contacted White to sign with them and since majority of the EVPs of AEW are former Bullet Club members, they have had a close look at White’s talents and they are pretty close to him as well.

White reportedly told All Elite Wrestling at the time that he had signed a seven-year deal with NJPW. It is unknown whether this deal was true and he is still under contract with NJPW or whether White is really on his way out of the company, but updates will be provided once it has been made available.
