Women’s Main Event Gets A Standing Ovation After Dynamite

The main event of this past Wednesday night’s St. Patrick’s Day Slam episode of Dynamite featured Dr. Britt Baker taking on Thunder Rosa in a Unsanctioned Lights Out/Anything Goes Match, which turned out to be one of the most brutal and barbaric matches in the history of pro wrestling. The match saw Rosa pick up the huge victory via pinfall after hitting Britt Baker with a colossal thunder driver off the apron and through a table.

The brutal match that saw chairs, tables, ladders and even thumbtacks being used, with Baker taking a powerbomb on the thumbtacks at one point in the match, saw both competitors with a crimson mask, most especially Britt Baker. Immediately after the match ended and the show going off the air, the company posted a video of the fallout from the match.

AEW President and CEO Tony Khan and AEW World Champion Kenny Omega was seen congratulating a bloodied Britt Baker as she was making her way to the backstage area. There was also an instance where the AEW locker room was giving a standing ovation to Thunder Rosa followed by a backstage interview with Tony Schiavone. Britt Baker was also shown getting treatment from medical personnel.

Speaking of Tony Khan, Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa, they each took to their own Twitter accounts and commented on the brutal Unsanctioned Lights Out/Anything Goes Match. According to Tony Khan, it was a great main event as well as it was the culmination of a 4 month story in one of the greatest and most memorable main event matches ever on Dynamite. Khan also thanked the fans who joined them and watched the match.

Thunder Rosa then took part in a backstage interview with AEW announcer Tony Schiavone where she said she is very emotional right now. Rosa also said this means everything to her as she come from nothing and seven months ago she came to AEW from NWA to make a statement, which was to put women’s wrestling on the map. Thunder Rosa then said with blood, sweat, and tears, she just showed that women should be valued everywhere and that she is very proud of this.

Rosa also took to Twitter and said that her goal in life has always been to champion things for those women who don’t belong, who are ostracized and criticized, for those who are push aside and not taken serious. She then said this win was bigger than her as it was for all women and that to never allowed anyone to tell you don’t belong.

Britt Baker then took to Twitter and said the bad news is Rosa forgot to kill her and that she is the face of the women’s division.

AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida was seen watching the match on a monitor in the back, so it’s possible that Thunder Rosa may face her for the AEW Women’s World Title down the line.
