Over the past few days, things in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic has reportedly become worst as the COVID-19 Delta variant continues to spread across the country, but as things currently stand, WWE has not made any changes when it comes to SummerSlam and WWE SummerSlam is still expected to push through according to plan as the state of Nevada is not expected to go into lockdown before SummerSlam.
If the COVID-19 Delta variant continues to spread the way it has been spreading for the past few days and another lockdown will be needed, then a worst-case scenario situation will see not only wrestling shows be affected, but other major sporting and non-sporting events as well and in case a lockdown is needed, then both the WWE and AEW have made contingency plans.
For AEW, they would simply just move back to their home base, which is Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida, but there is no word yet on if they will have live fans in attendance or not. For WWE, it is unclear at the moment what their plans are, but they would reportedly have to go back to the state of Florida and the ThunderDome setup.
Fans are reportedly being required to wear a mask for WWE’s upcoming SummerSlam Event, while fans are required to show proof of vaccination for WWE’s MSG show. AEW’s Grand Slam episode of Dynamite at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York is still expected to push through according to plan as those fans who will be attending the show have not been made required to show proof of vaccination because they have a retractable roof in their venue and only indoor venues must require proof of vaccination.
