Former Bellator and EliteXC MMA veteran “Weapon X” Matt Makowski will make his first defense of the Heavy Hitters Championship on Wednesday, April 21st, when he faces former Heavy Hitters Champion and 44OH Member “The Bev” Bobby Beverly in the main event of a special Championship Edition of the UWFi Rules Contenders Series on IndependentWrestling.TV.
Makowski (1-0 under UWFi Rules) made his Paradigm Pro debut earlier this month when he defeated former Champion “The Hoodfoot” Mo Atlas to win the belt in his debut fight. The victory continued Makowski’s meteoric rise in independent pro wrestling – he also recently competed on multiple editions of Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport and was a finalist in last year’s Pro Wrestling Illustrated Rookie of the Year awards.
His opponent, Bobby Beverly (4-2 under UWFi Rules) enters the fight vowing to leave Paradigm Pro Wrestling if he cannot regain the Heavy Hitters Championship in this fight. Beverly was the first multi-division champion in PPW History, having previously held the Heavy Hitters Championship and the PPW Tag Team Championships (with Matthew Justice). His highest profile victories to date saw him end former Paradigm Champion AJ Gray’s year-long undefeated streak in November of 2019, and win the Heavy Hitters 2 Tournament in July of 2020.
Beverly vs Mawkoski will headline a six fight card, airing this Wednesday at 10PM ET / 7PM PT on IWTV.
In the evening’s co-main, former Paradigm Champion “The Wild Heart” Cole Radrick (3-3 under UWFi Rules) will face “Poisoned Youth” Robert Martyr (2-2 under UWFi Rules) in a Super Middleweight Showcase fight. This fight has become something of a grudge match, with Martyr repeatedly challenging Radrick on social media until Radrick responded simply “Robert Martyr, [Expletive Deleted] and find out.”
The undercard will also feature several high profile bouts including a Teacher vs Student fight as Crux Wrestling Academy trainer Kerry Awful (1-0) faces his pupil Hardway Heeter (0-3), an epic hoss fight between Gnarls Garvin (2-1) and Ron Bass Jr (0-1), a showdown between Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt Dustin Leonard (1-1) and former boxer Isaiah Broner (3-1), and a contest between twenty-year wrestling veteran Appollo Q. Starr (0-1) and British Chain Wrestler Sidney Von Engeland (0-1).
