It was previously reported that the WWE is set to return to India on Friday, September 8 from the GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium (Gachibowli Indoor Stadium) in Hyderabad, India for their special event known as Superstar Spectacle, which will be the company’s first live event in India since 2017 and that the show will feature an appearance by none other than 16-time World Champion John Cena, who will be appearing in the country for the very first time. It would then be revealed a few days later that 16-time World Champion John Cena will team with current WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth “Freakin” Rollins to go up against Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci in Tag Team action.
WWE veteran and multiple-time WWE Women’s Champion Natalya appeared on Twin Talk with WWE NIL signees the Cavinder Twins (Haley Cavinder and Hanna Cavinder), where she revealed that she will be taking on WWE Women’s World Champion “The Eradicator” Rhea Ripley, but the company has yet to confirm the match as of this writing and it was not clarified whether this match will be a championship match for Ripley’s WWE Women’s World Title or a standard non-title match.
The 2023 WWE Superstar Spectacle Event will only be aired in India via Sony Six and not on Peacock or the WWE Network and this show will only have a setup of 3500-4000 fans in attendance as this event is not about drawing a big crowd, but about the WWE’s business partners bringing the promotion in India. India is reportedly the WWE’s second biggest television revenue stream ever, behind the United States and the country even makes more money on television than Canada and the U.K.
Another matchup already announced for the show includes Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn putting their Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles on the line against Indus Sher’s Sanga and Veer Mahaan.
