One of pro wrestling and the WWE’s biggest star in Sasha Banks walked out of the company prior to the May 16 episode of WWE RAW due to frustration over creative, revealing that she and Naomi did not feel respected as a team and that they even felt unsafe working with specific WWE Superstars inside of the squared circle. Sasha Banks and Naomi were then stripped of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles and their profiles were even removed from the official WWE roster page and they were also removed from WWE’s TV intro videos. Banks and Naomi would even remove the WWE from their Instagram profiles and Naomi would also remove WWE from her Twitter bio.
Triple H took over the WWE’s creative several months back and since then a lot of significant changes have happened such as several former WWE Stars being brought back, but there were also rumblings of a potential return for Sasha Banks. Dave Meltzer mentioned on the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that the WWE was in contract talks with Sasha and last he heard there were some money issues, but that was a long time ago, so he is unsure where things currently stand. As previously reported, Sasha Banks is set to make an appearance at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 17 on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 inside the Tokyo Dome and Meltzer believes that Sasha Banks is done with the WWE and she will not be returning, but it is something that you can’t rule out and even though that is where things currently stand, that could change at any given moment.
According to Voices Of Wrestling, NJPW has been working on some sort of a limited appearance deal for “The Boss” Sasha Banks that will see her get paid significantly higher than what the company paid top All Elite Wrestling Star Chris Jericho and the deal will also make “The Boss” Sasha Banks the highest paid Bushiroad (parent company of NJPW and STARDOM) contracted wrestler.
Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Chris Jericho was making $100,000 per appearance when he was working for NJPW, but he was actually underpaid due to how much revenue he brought between NJPW and other shows, so Sasha Banks will need to bring a big revenue as well, though he doesn’t see that happening for other shows, maybe expect for Wrestle Kingdom 17.
This is what Dave Meltzer said:
“Voices of Wrestling said that it was a per-appearance deal at the highest price that Bushiroad has ever paid anyone, and they said it was more than Chris Jericho….Chris Jericho made $100,000 a shot when he was working for New Japan, and $100,000 a shot, she’s gonna have to….with Chris Jericho he was actually underpaid because of how much revenue he drove between New Japan World and ticket sales at the different shows and things like that.”
“I don’t see her driving that revenue, but I guess we’ll find out. The Tokyo Dome may be one thing, but for other shows, and a lot of them in the United States, I don’t see where she’s gonna drive $100,000 of extra revenue.”
