Bret Hart has unveiled what he ended up telling Ric Flair after “The Nature Boy’s” final match.
Ric Flair had his final match on July 31. He teamed with Andrade El Idolo to take on Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett inside the Nashville Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee.
The 73-year-old Flair had showed off a series of training videos where he looked quite agile for his age. That version of Flair did not show up for the match as he was winded and struggled to finish certain spots in the ring.
Flair picked up the win for his team and thanked fans for their support throughout the years. Among the big wrestling legends in attendance were Bret Hart, The Undertaker, and Mick Foley.
During an interview with Bill Apter for SportsKeeda, Bret Hart revealed what he told Ric Flair after the tag team match.
“I just congratulated him and let him know that I appreciated what he did and what he was trying to do. There’s not too many guys that would have had the guts to go in there and do what Ric Flair did. I admire that about him,” he said.
Bret went on to say that he’s happy for Flair even if the match had a few scary moments.
“It wasn’t a Bret Hart/Ric Flair match, but it’s what happens when a 73-year-old guy wrestles. It’s not the easiest thing to do, and I think everybody realized how hard it was for him to do that. In the end, I stand and I applaud him,” Hart said.
Flair has already expressed regret over saying that July 31 would be his final match. Many are hoping that the wrestling legend will stick to his word and avoid stepping back inside the ring for another match given his age and the fact that he has a pacemaker and is on blood thinners.
