Classified Documents Reveal Connection Between Politics And Wrestling

On Wednesday, it was reported that classified documents discovered in a storage unit belonging to former President and WWE Hall of Famer Donald Trump were discovered alongside a number of personal items, including championship wrestling belts.

According to The New York Times, the Justice Department is investigating Trump’s handling of classified documents, including an FBI raid in August that resulted in authorities discovering more than 300 classified documents removed from the White House after he left office in 2021. There is no information on which championship belts Trump possessed.

According to The New York Times, after the raid at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, a federal judge ordered Trump to search his properties for other potentially classified documents, prompting the former president to hire a team to do so.

The Washington Post then reported on Wednesday that Trump’s team discovered additional classified documents in the president’s West Palm Beach, Florida, storage unit. According to The Washington Post, “a person familiar with the situation” stated that the storage unit where the classified documents were discovered contained random personal items such as “suits and swords and wrestling belts and all sorts of things.”

Trump has a long and illustrious history with professional wrestling. WrestleMania IV and WrestleMania V were both sponsored by Trump and held near Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In 2013, Trump was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
