Damian Priest has been spending most of his time these days creating havoc on “WWE Monday Night Raw” alongside his fellow Judgment Day members. But, for a brief period, The Artist Formerly Known as Punishment Martinez may have been considering doing what AEW World Champion MJF recently did: taking a break from the ring in favour of the good old silver screen.
Earlier this afternoon, Fightful Select claimed that Priest had been approached by producers of the Marvel Studios feature “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” while the project was in development. Priest was apparently requested to read for two roles, one of which being Namor, the Talokan king who played the film’s primary adversary.
Fightful was unable to confirm whether Priest ever conducted a reading or audition for Namor or the other intended character, despite being asked. As those who have seen “Wakanda Forever” will know, Priest was eventually not cast in the part, with Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta taking his place. Huerta, ironically, is also associated with wrestling, having previously portrayed famed luchador Blue Demon in a TV series based on Demon’s life.
While Priest may have missed out on a major part in one of the year’s biggest films, he still has a lot to look forward to this weekend at WWE Survivor Series. While he will not be competing, Priest, along with Judgment Day teammates Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio, will be rooting for their leader, Finn Balor, who will face AJ Styles in singles competition.
What do you think would have happened if Priest would have got the role? Sound off in the comments.
