Dominik Mysterio Opens Up About Battling Hall of Famer Father, Rey Mysterio, at WrestleMania 39

In a recent revelation, Dominik Mysterio, renowned professional wrestler, shared the unusual post-match ritual following his epic fight at WrestleMania 39 ー a monumental match against his father, famed Hall of Famer, Rey Mysterio.

This year’s WrestleMania welcomed audiences to a rare sight, a father-son battle between the Mysterios. After an intense fight, Dominik Mysterio treated himself to a well-deserved late-night snack. He shares, “After the match, I got back to my hotel room – we were in LA so there were food vendors outside our hotel. I think it was like 2 in the morning, and it was just me and my best friend, my buddy Daniel.” Wide-eyed at the sheer magnitude of the situation, he recalls thinking, “Dude…I just wrestled my dad at WrestleMania. This is pretty surreal…and I beat his ass!”

The adrenaline and excitement following the eventful match saw young Mysterio hitting the LA food scene- a pleasing contrast to the animosity displayed in the ring.

The tension between the Mysterio duo sparked when Dominik, fuelled by his ambition, decided to tread down the path of deception and betrayal. Aligning himself with The Judgment Day faction at the Clash at the Castle in September 2022, Dominik drew a line, challenging his father to a match. Despite Rey’s initial refusal, he reluctantly consented after Dominik stung with personal remarks towards his sister and mother.

The stage was then set for a dramatic face-off at WrestleMania 39. Fuelling this fiery match-up, Rey emerged victorious over his son despite the interference of Judgment Day, thanks to a surprise alliance with musician, Bad Bunny.

Wrestling fans worldwide basked in the intensity and uniqueness of such a spectacle – a generational clash of titans, forever immortalising the Mysterios’ tale in the annals of WrestleMania’s storied history.
