Dominik Mysterio Talks About Mustafa Ali And His WWE Release

Mustafa Ali was released from his WWE contract on Thursday. This happened before the company made cuts to the main roster and the talent in NXT. He was slated to face Dominik Mysterio at No Mercy, Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Mechanic Banks Arena in Bakersfield, CA.

The current North American Champion, Dominik Mysterio recently appeared on The Kliq Podcast [H/T: WrestlingNews.co] and was asked about his match at No Mercy, his opponent Dragon Lee on Monday and a vast variety of topics. The new hire to the throne in the Mysterio legacy spoke candidly about the turn of events, and didn’t hesitate to speak his mind on Dragon Lee.

Dominik called it unfortunate that Ali was shown the door. It leaves him without a challenger at No Mercy. The North American Champion has grown leaps and bounds since he first debuted on the scene, and it’s nice to see him grow this way.

Yeah, it’s a very unfortunate situation that very talented people have to go through situations like this. At the end of the day, it’s out of our control. We just do whatever we can to put our best foot forward. But as far as No Mercy goes, I’m just gonna have to wait and see who my opponent will be.

Mysterio talked about Dragon Lee and said that he has seen Lucha Libre style of wrestling his entire life and so he doesn’t feel intimidated by Dragon Lee. Dominik seemed confident about his match with Dragon Lee and believed that he will be able to win at ease.

No, I wouldn’t say I’m intimidated by Dragon Lee. I’ve dealt with guys like Dragon Lee my entire life. Growing up in this lucha libre style of wrestling, especially someone who tries to be like my dad. So you can say I have some experience with it. So, I don’t think I’m intimidated by him at all. I’ve already beaten him. Unfortunately, he is also had a victory over me. But it was a fluke victory. I have a clean victory over him, so I don’t think I’m really intimidated by it. And I see myself walking out as still the NXT North American Champion.

Do you think Dominik will be able to defend his title successfully at No Mercy? Sound off in the comments.
