Drew McIntyre Inducted into Scottish Wrestling Hall of Fame Ahead of WWE Clash at the Castle

One Big Thing

Drew McIntyre, the Scottish Warrior, has been inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame of Scotland, just days before his World Heavyweight Championship match at WWE Clash at the Castle in Glasgow.

Key Points

  • McIntyre was honored with a special plaque by Jacqueline McLaren, the Lord Provost of Glasgow, during the 2024 Hall of Fame ceremony at Ibrox Stadium.
  • He is the first active wrestler to be inducted into the Scottish Wrestling Hall of Fame.
  • The induction coincides with WWE’s first-ever premium live event broadcast from Scotland, WWE Clash at the Castle.

Drew McIntyre’s Reaction

“These past 17 years have really flown by quick. I really miss it back home. And I’m very, very proud of everything I’ve built and achieved in my career, but I’m even more proud to be Scottish. And if anyone has seen my entrance in WWE, I wear the kilt and I’m always flying the flag. It was important to be announced from Ayr, Scotland because everyone’s heard of Glasgow. No one’s heard of Ayr. For time to go by that quick, and suddenly I’m being inducted into the Scottish Wrestling Hall of Fame, I guess the first ever active wrestler, and the same weekend that WWE are having their first ever premium live event broadcast to the entire world, is absolutely incredible. It’s surreal.”

Why It Matters

McIntyre’s induction into the Scottish Wrestling Hall of Fame is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and the impact he has made in the professional wrestling world. As a proud Scotsman, this honor holds special significance for him, especially as it coincides with WWE’s historic event in Glasgow. The recognition further cements McIntyre’s status as a trailblazer and a source of inspiration for aspiring wrestlers from Scotland and around the world.

Looking Ahead

With his Hall of Fame induction celebrated, McIntyre now shifts his focus to the highly anticipated WWE Clash at the Castle event at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro. He is set to challenge Damian Priest for the World Heavyweight Championship in a match with an added stipulation: Priest’s Judgment Day stablemates are barred from ringside, as determined by McIntyre’s victory on “WWE Raw” earlier this week.

As Drew McIntyre prepares for this momentous occasion, the question remains: Will the Scottish Warrior’s homecoming be crowned with championship gold? Share your thoughts and predictions in the comments below!
