Edge’s WWE Deal To Expire Before AEW WrestleDream, Removed From Roster

WWE Hall of Famer “The Rated R Superstar” Edge revealed on WWE TV last year that he wanted to end his legendary in-ring career this year at a show in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and that WWE show just so happened to take place on a recent episode of WWE SmackDown, where The Rated R Superstar faced Sheamus in a Singles Match and celebrated his 25th year in the wrestling business.

Edge’s WWE contract was reportedly set to expire sometime this September, with his final match in his contract taking place on that episode of SmackDown against Sheamus and the WWE Hall of Famer revealed that he received a contract extension offer by the company.

Dave Meltzer revealed on a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio Program that Edge’s current deal with the WWE expires tomorrow, September 30th, which means he could show up at AEW WrestleDream. According to PWInsider.com, WWE Hall of Famer “The Rated R Superstar” Edge is no longer listed on the miscellaneous list of the company’s internal talent roster, but WWE.com still lists Edge as an active performer. Edge being moved from the internal active roster in the WWE to the company’s miscellaneous list means he has been injured or inactive for the last month.

All Elite Wrestling has been interested in signing Edge to a contract since 2019, which is one of the reasons the WWE Hall of Famer got the offer he received from WWE at the time to come back and wrestle after being medically cleared to compete once again. It has been speculated that Edge may head to AEW for a run with his close friend Christian Cage, with more fuel being added to the fire, when a masked man laid out “Switchblade” Jay White this past Wednesday night on Dynamite to close the show as it is believed the WWE Hall of Famer is that masked man.
